Stop Motion

I have always enjoyed stop motion since I was younger but have not experimented with it in years. I am glad I got the opportunity to try it again becauseI really enjoyed working with it. We started by animating shapes transforming into other shapes, this was a very satisfying process because of how simple it was to make. Whilst doing this task I was introduced to the software ‘DragonFrame’, a software I had never heard of before coming to UAL. I got the hang of the software very quickly as it is very intuitive to use but is also very feature rich so it can be used in many versatile ways. The next task was to make an animation in a group of four based on an audio showed. We landed on the idea of a frog transforming into many different things. I made the frog shrink down and turn into a fly, only to get eaten by a bird. I did the animation on twos and I think that I did very well and think it looks very convincing. When animating the fly I got annoyed that I could not hold my hand perfectly still so that when I took 2 pictures it would always be slightly different, however I think this added to it as flys are always jittery with their movement. I also would slow down the speed of the bird flying as it could have a smooth, nicer animation. I really enjoyed this medium and will definitely use it for future projects, as sometimes it can be even faster then animating 2D and has a very interesting look to it.
